Finance minister Njeru Githae said the Kenyan economy has matured, which calls for every Kenyan to have a bank account in line with efforts to increase financial inclusion in the country, as per Vision 2030.

Also coming up will be a law compelling every Kenyan above 18 years to open an income tax file with the Kenya Revenue Authority, to help seal loopholes in tax collection. The two will be mandatory irrespective of whether one is earning an income or not.

I would like everybody to have one but is it realistic cz hata wale tunao tunasweat tu.

I can't believe itd'oh!

So a police officer stops you and asks

Wapi kitambulisho?

Wapi PIN?

Wapi ATM card?Sad Hauna ATM? Nyinyi ni ile wakora inafanya money laundering na kuuza madawa eeh? Kaa chini haraka, jambazi!!

While it's OK for govt to ensure that all of us are registered with KRA, it is over ambitious and unfair to imagine all Kenyans can and should have a bank account.

The minister is out of order!

Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray

I think it would in order for the minister to work on the budget first(kibarua iko hapo with erections around) and stop seeking cheap publicity over pipe dreams.

Even kenyans with incomes struggle to maintain one! Its always salary in and salary out most times.

Is this the best way to empower youth?
This is putting the cart before the horse.

For so many kenyans if their employers would agree to pay them cash they would not see the point of having bank accounts!!!

Was this by any chance said on april 01st!!!

Otherwise Githae should be thinking of incentives to float to Kenyans to persuade those who don’t have Bank accounts to consider opening one.

Making it mandatory sounds impractical and could very well run into head winds with the constitution.

How many Banks accept to open A/Cs with zero balance!!

What is the geographical distribution of Banks around the country vis avis Kenyans dwellings!

There are charges/costs associated with operating a Bank a/c, that most ruralfolk would rather avoid.

Lack of/little infomation would see most chaps loose monies to Banks in all manner of charges/penalties.

Come off it Githae!

Dunia ni msongamano..
