It is not Libyan citizens who decided to kick out Gadaffi, it was Western interests and Nato. So, don't blame the citizens for starting the ouster, blame them for not standing up against the infidels.

Wentangula and some Kenyans were almost killed by a coup which was ignited by the attack on Gadaffi and eventual border closing of Tualeg tribesmen back to Mali.

At least you can see what half of Africa does not see. We need to lead the blind.

In September of 1973 Libya issued a 16-article law nationalising 51% of the assets of all remaining oil companies operating in Libya. This policy was not outright nationalisation, but part of a general program Libyanizing the economy. Dr Mahmoud Elwarfally suggests in his book on the Libyan oil industry that a total nationalisation could not be pursued until a Libyan staff of technicians and experts was ready to take over.[10]

Over the course of 1973, Libya also played an active role in the Arab oil embargo on the USA in the wake of the Yom Kippur war between Israel and its Arab neighbours.[11] In 1974 further nationalisation activity took place, with Gaddhafi nationalising three US companies by seizing the remaining 49% share of California Asiatic Company, American Overseas Petroleum Company and the Libyan-American Oil Company.

By 1975 the assets of almost all companies working in Libya were either fully nationalised (such as BP) or majority owned by the Libyan State, who held a 63% of the assets of German Wintershall, 85% of Austrian OMV, 59.2% of the Oasis Group and 50% of the assets of Italian Agip.

Muammar Gaddhafi was a real man. He took over Libya when he was only 27yrs old.

libya was governed by a council of elders. the jamehariya (sp). the chairman was gadaffi. each tribe, clan etc was represented. every major decision was made by this council. with gadaffi gone, no figure has the gravitas and authority to unite the many hostile tribes. another somalia in the making

@insurgent you assume I don't appreciate the western influence in this. It was long time coming. An economically stable african country? Not on their watch!
Call it ignorance but I did not even know there were tribes in Libya! I used to know they are all 'Libyans' which if you think about was a good thing because of nationalism.
Now all thats left is a small paragrapgh at a hidden corner in the dailies about how this tribe was killed by insurgents this side or black Africans targeted because of so and so. Its a crying shame.

Revolting for something is a contradiction and the Libyans are now in the deep-end of it.

I hear more Tunisian youth are burning themselves . . . and now Malian soldiers are trying to play hero in a game they cannot win . . .

Besigye and Co. are somewhere in the queue, and sometimes I think Kenyans have these aspirations.

These cases show that it is excedingly difficult for people to understand politics, no matter how vociferous and 'educated' they may be.

And did you see the same pigs hold a conference on somalia the minute oil was discovered there, despite ignoring somalia for two decades.the western powers remain here for the same reason that the colonialist came,EXPLOITATION.and it sadens my heart that part of our leadership thinks that they are our friends.

We (A couple of wazuans and I) saw this coming from a million miles away!!! We discussed it at length at the begin, during and on conclusion of the invasion. We tried to drill sense into the heads of otherwise educated wazuans who were too blind and ignorant to see what was happening.

Some wazuans actually bought the crap that the West was in Libya to liberate the Libyans and rid them of an apparent tyrant by the name of Gadaffi. I never understood how an apparently educated, informed & intelligent Kenyan/Wazuan/Person would buy such crap.

No wonder the west has made Africa a play ground. If the so called [educated] middle class can buy such bull crap, what's our hope?

Bob Marley summed it all when he said/sang "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds..."

Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
