...last week I joined millions of people around the world to watch a live show in which an American child is said to have gotten into a balloon and let it off. For more than two hours,I watched as the event unfolded. As a father of a 5 year old I really felt for the boy child being alone in the skies and not being certain how 4the balloon will land. I prayed and prayed for the boy. I know how cheeky little boys can be and so all along I for sure knew this was true. Finally the balloon had a soft landing and what a relief for me it was knowing that the by will be fished out alive. The response by the Americans was very prompt. infact somebody was already holding one of the strings attached a minute before it touched the ground (compare that to our response in the Kiambu tragedy!!) So finally there was no boy who came out of the balloon. It was said that he might have fallen off when it took off. So I went to bed crying for the little boy and asking myself if it was my son where would I be. I woke up again at 4.00 am and this time the news was that the boy had been found. All this time he had been hiding in an attc in the garage. As you would expect,the media was all over them asking questions

Now a one CNN Wolf Blitzer asked the boy why he did not come out when everybody was calling him and asking him to do so. When he did not want to answer his father insisted on asking him. And now here is the punchline ' you guys said we did this for a show' I am sure the father must have peed on himself. The boy had let the cat ou of the bag. It was one big HOAX.

Lesson: Kids will always be kids...
