Help! Help!

Iam under attack by house lizards!

Initially didnt mind the occational 1/2 as they were keeping roaches away.

Now, I think they have called in the rest of the clan and i need to do something keep them out and far away.

Their chichichi...chichi..chichichi noise is so irrtating (Funny i have observed when one makes this noise; another comes and clmbs on it...then all is quite for like 3 minutes...)

SO what do I do?

@Muheani, Kindly do not do any harm to those animals.

When i was growing up in a city slum, we hard plenty on our house. My mother always insisted that they were bringing good luck to us. (I think she over read an old Nigerian book where someone gets killed while hunting for a lizard - Chinua Achebe or similar)

Hey, last christmas (25th Dec 2011) i was in a town called Yambio (Western Equatoria State), in South West of Republic of South Sudan and i saw something really strange, Lizards are a delicacy among the Bazandes there, especially the Monitor Lizard. I have never seen a whole town chasing a lizard like that, i was thinking it was Kony they were after.

But for christ's sake they were chasing a monitor lizard not house lizards and geckos, unless u mean to tell us that monitors are fully grown lizards/geckos.

Now that is serious.
But note this please.Geckos are not pests, but simply uninvited guests. They help you get rid of the real pests in your home – the insects and spiders that either bite, damage your home, or bring you diseases.

The main reason why geckos choose your home to hang around is because it contains an abundant supply of their food – like moths, mosquitoes, and spiders.

1.If you eliminate the source of their food, then they will most likely move to another place where they can find their food.

2.Try glue traps. The flat type, with just the slightest raised edge. The gecko will eventually run across it and be caught.

3. Try mothballs. They are believed to repel geckos. But this is a last resort, as mothballs smell a lot worse than geckos. Place a mothball on a piece of tape near door entry or window ledges.

4. Turn down your thermostat. If it's colder than 65 outdoors at night, geckos will try to get in your house to warm up. Geckos prefer warm, humid areas.

Remember, a cold gecko is a slow gecko, so it helps to keep your house cooler.

5.Another good way to get rid of geckos in your home is to get a new cat. Get a nice active cat.It will surely scare the geckos out.

good luck.

I concur - at home all the kids know gecko's are friends not foes and there is a ban on harming them. And I agree in the "natural" way of controlling them using a predator like a cat. Our cats even catch moths, mice and birds...

Overall its better to have a dozen geckos all going chichichi than a single mosquito buzzing around annoyingly while you try to sleep...
