Had a N B15 for more than year in 2007 / 08 in NBI. It is a lovely car and the price is very reasonable in comparison to the Toyota which I believe is overpriced in our market. Only issue I had with it is spare parts can sometimes be difficult to get and they are quite pricy becos of that, all the same that could have changed with the increase in demand.

Personally for me the car infront is always a toyota. But a friend bought a KAL (can't remember the year) brand new B15 from DT Dobie. Town running only,he changed the tie rods, bushes, rack ends for the first time 2 months ago.

Gekko, get your facts right DT Dobie never sold or stocked a local version of this model from the B14 they went straight to the Nissan N16 ex saloon until the Tiida came. Kavairu do your maths. The current cash price for a newly imported B15 1496cc in Nairobi will be 530-600k. Mombasa 480-520k. Keep off the 1296cc like plague. Its a fairly good car but it has issues with suspension sytems, too weak and very expensive to buy compared to toyota. It also has major issues with electronics as in computers problems bra bra. since u say yours is for town running i guess your only issue will be incase it develops electronic problems and the resale value.
On the other hand a good newly imported toyota car say the carina which is quite cute the best you can buy is Mombasa 650k NBO 700K. or the NZE x assista 750k mombasa nairobi 780k but you will have no major worries to worry about even in terms of perfomance. If you maintain it very well you can sell your carina 1 year down the line for 580K and NZE for 650k.
You are now informed make your choice. have you considered importing that will knock off about 100k from the prices for both nissan and toyota

I don't drive but when I visited a car dealer recently and when he talked about a B15 I cud sometimes forget and think that he was describing a benz. It is stable on the road . . . Sometimes it feels good to be different. B15 ni poa!

A friend is thinking of buying a cheap and reliable car for short errands town-thika etc. He is torn between an NZE and a nissan b15. He has two offers on the table. Nissan b15 clean KBA (250k) and Toyota NZE clean (KBA) (480k). He has had a mechanic inspect both cars and the mechanic had given them a clean bill of health. Which one is the better deal? Is the NZE really worth the extra 230k?

The b15 will get the job done. The best tool is the cheapest one that can do the job. Invest the 'saved' 230k elsewhere.

7 years ago was faced with same dilemma between B15 (450k) and NZE (950k)

Kenya is Toyota country and so re-sale value of Toyota is high. If the friend intends to re-sale it Toyota is good choice.

Went for B15 and the car has never failed.Only been to mechanic for service, tyre changes and have replaced the shock and springs. Fuel efficient.

The B15 front side lamps used to be a hot cake with the parking boys but had it secured. Siku hizi i haven't seen those guys around globe and ngara who used to steal these lamps - heard they were all shot.
