I need to upgrade from CRT to LCD. My first stop is 32 inch range. I have been shopping around and I have realized that Samsung and Sony are the leading brands. The trouble is that I cant figure out which of these two brands is the best. Help me decide which brand would you recommend and why..

if i was loaded... i would consider putting the money for a definate return, but again, if i was Kulchaz, i would buy LG after asking the salesman to test the 3 items against a normal signal such as KTN instead of those misleading HD /Blue ray signals. Thank God the money is neither mine, nor is the decision. "For i am the master and the captain of my fate"

Good tip about testing with normal signals @ Kwanini. McReggae it is not about the price, it is about value for money and that is why it is between Samsung and Sony.

These things are all the same. Samsung is cheaper. I got a 32" one last year, and I quickly realised that I would have wanted a larger size - maybe you should go for a bigger screen to avoid my pitfall. Also, an LCD is not an LCD if there is no home theatre to go with it.

There was a time Sony electronics were far superior to any other electronic gargets in the market. They had a reputable brand and spent alot of money in Development and Research to ensure consistent quality and create differentiation from other products using cutting edge technology. Samsung has now perfected the same art either by developing their own or copying. Have you noted Samsung Galaxy phones are similar in shape to iphone? Sam and Sony LCDs are also running neck to neck but Sam is cheaper. Sony is still the more expensive as they spent real cash on D&R but Sam has a way of skirting around D&R expenses. By the way, did anybody here know that all Sony products have a date by which if it breaks down, you do not repair it as its gone for good? So, go for Samsung as sooner than later, you will need to upgrade to 3D, internet compliant TV, Multi Purpose 4D LCD monitor and finally the variety you see on 'Avatar' which appear in the air. Wisdom to detect when share prices hit rock bottom. When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.

beware most of the Sony bravias being sold in supermarkets and other shops are not genuine, they are cheap Chinese imitations for the African market, this dawned on me when I visited London last year and went shopping where I was asked to fork out 700£ for a 32 inch Sony bravia and back in Kenya I saw Sony bravia going for 35k, asked why the price difference and was told what we have here are not Sony bravias, so unless you get your set from Sony centre, wouldnt go for the ones in supermarkets or thse shops in luthuli ave. They are genuine and have warranty from Sony themselves, only that SONY has different manufacturing plants and thus some are imported from China......made through cheaper labour and probably sheaper materials!!! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".

I have a bad experience with Samsung (I am sure it was not a SomeSung) and their warranties don't stand (Hell!) .Sony is overpriced.I went LG.I do concur with GG.A 32" screen will soon seem like a toy. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

At my local pub, i find that LGs have a sharper image than Sonys. I think you also need Dstv to fully enjoy the TV features.
Now, was at Westgate and saw this razor thin Samsung Internet TV going for Kes 899,000. Costs as much as 2 proboxes. The picture quality was just amazing. Seems Samsung has overtaken Sony when it comes to innovation.

Koreans have this nationalistic obsession to BETTER Japan. This is from the historical injustices. They have done it in ship-building, now electronics. In a few years time, the autos. Hyundai/Kia group won't be in the heels of Toyota for long. As for the Tv, go for Samsung. "Everywhere Samsung goes, LG goes, at a snail pace" that's how the two are compared in their homeland.

The ones for Africa are clearly marked for sale in Middle East and Africa only. I have had mine for the last one year and I thought I still have two more under warranty?
