Some light has started showing at the end of the dark tunnel that has been the rapid escalation of prices this year.

Blamed on credit expansion and the subsequent collapse of the shilling, the impact of the inflation has been felt most in poor households through high prices for food and kerosene while the middle class has been grappling with the staggering prices of petrol and electricity.

At the industrial level, the weak shilling and steep energy costs have combined to raise production and distribution overheads, visiting grief for consumers at retail outlets.
