It takes ages for a stock to double but days for it to halve...think of Kq which once traded at 66 and is now 19sh...am sure even a longterm investor is feeling the effect.

I have said it before and I will say it again...a seasoned trader cuts his losses when he realizes he was wrong...perhaps if you cut your losses at 70...it would have been better...most investors cant swallow their pride and cut losses which is why they have lost 330 billion

LOL... I think KQ should de-list ;-)

What happens is that there is no market for the shares thus we wait for 10 years thereafter!

IMHO, if KQ can stay on the straight & narrow... moderate the growth to match its cash availability... then the EPS could be 20/year (or better in 10 years)...

@Josiah...the market has a mind of its own which is totally unpredictable...the only way to know the right time is by waiting for the trend to start rising...then buying promptly and then ridding until the trent you are profiting from is over...then you sell..there is no sure way of picking a top

The purchase of 9 Dreamliners at a cost of between Ksh 17.5 - 20B each (thats abt Ksh 160-180B Capital requirement) should really depress dividends for a long time to come as they service the debt. Seems the rights issue proceeds will only be enough (if they manage to raise the cash) for the down payment of the 9 Dream liners.

I think KQ may be bitting more than it can chew.....should have done a gradual acquisition of the planes.

Anyway, time will tell.

Happy Hunting.

@simon Its easier said than done. You can however trade in the fantasy market and show us how its done, at no risk.

No strategy is even 80percent accurate when dealing in stocks...its upon everyone to look for a method best suited for him...whether it is buying and holding, cutting losses etc...at the end of the year, what matters is how much money you made and not the methodology used....THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS

Q3 passenger numbers up by 15.4% but rights cloud continues to spell doom for the share.

KQ has been a bad buy for a long time,i remember in the 90s when the share price hit a low of 5.75,i was just 9 years but remember it well;it was sluggish for a while.....managed to jump in at 60 as it was going up,exited at 132 either in 05 or 06(can't remember) and the following week it was on a downward trend and has since then been going down.interesting thing is that most brokers including Aly khan Satchu really advise guys to hop on esp when it was in the 40s range but is there a point of buying a stock for ksh and it makes a 30% appreciation in three months when equity jumped from ksh15 to 25 over the same period? moral:do your own research!!if you cannot take into consideration what the brokers say but make your own decision. KQ is and shall be a sinking ship for a while.even post 2013 it shall perhaps hit a very optimistic 50 bob......

KQ issues profit warning. Earnings for the financial year 2011/2012 will be 25% less than the previous year.
