TE, won the tender to build Telkom’s Kenya 3G network at a cost of sh4 billion while its rival Huawei, clinched a Sh12 billion contract to supply core network during the Safaricom’s 3G upgrade to the 4G platform.

4G platform enables the mobile firm to provide faster internet connections and offer services such as video conferencing, gaming , education and medical services online.

It comes at a time when these firms are also eying a government tender to build a national 4G network that is estimated will cost at more than Sh70 billion.
