So why don't they move to professions that pay better???
Actually they’ve been doing that...not changing professions, just changing the employers and countries. Its called brain drain - where you spend public resources educating / training someone from age 6 till they're competent and then "donate" them to the developed world which is willing to pay more... . Apparently there are only about 350 Professors in the country. Crying shame.

Most are lazy. They prefer some of our universities where nobody cares about your performance,what time you come in, whether you mark CAT papers etc. They will lecture from recycled notes dating back to 1998 yet so much has changed.
I’m not so sure that such arguments should be used as the justification for their pay. These look like the symptoms of a very bad problem. Read the balckboard (nation) and if what was described there is anything to go by, you’re left to wonder whether they are equipped to perform. With the introduction of Module II(Parallel degree) student numbers are obscenely high. Staff numbers didnt change much. Some of these Universities have numerous constituent colleges which forces lecturers to hop from one part of the country to the other in the name of educating future generations. Where do they get time to sit down and research. And talking about research, do they receive adequate funding?


Why don't they move to other institutions where people are paid 500K?
You mean like Parliament?
Answer:Most lecture in 3 or so universities (165*3=495K).
