Is there a possibility that the bible was a genious writings of people like william shakespeare and the church is just but a big Ponzi scheme?

Maybe the devil is using me but think about it. Anyway, I love the teachings of the bible but it is hard to believe on some things. Just saying!

Let me make it plain for you... just for you Rol10ut/drunKard, so that your question may not go unanswered:

Ephesians 5:18 ESV
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit

Proverbs 20:1 ESV
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

Galatians 5:21 ESV
Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Isaiah 5:11 ESV
Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them!

1 Peter 5:8 ESV
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 Corinthians 6:10 ESV
Nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Proverbs 23:29-35 ESV
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine; those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart utter perverse things. ...

Proverbs 31:6-7 ESV
Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

Proverbs 23:20-21 ESV
Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.

Romans 14:21 ESV
It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

Hosea 4:11 ESV
Whoredom, wine, and new wine, which take away the understanding.

2 Peter 1:20-21

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim 3:16

All Scripture is God breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Give some examples.

It is not a suprise that people are increasingly starting to ask questions and eventually the truth will set us free especially us Africans who have lost so much for following the western religions blindly. The net has so much information that might help us. Here are two that have informed me so much.

Problems can get out of proportion, and not only in the wee small hours. Don't let the problems eclipse the Master. Let the Master eclipse the problems.

How about if philosophy is analysed critically from a religious angle, will it stand?

What is the difference between Christianity and our traditional African religion? Commercialization of Christianity by a few should not disillusion you!

The idea of a supernatural is superfluous. A supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist. The very foundation of religion is death and the inevitability of its finality.

Religion is a delusion that seeks to explain phenomena from the angle of a supernatural maker driven by the fear of death and its inexplicable yet finalistic nature. All explanations deriving from religion are fatalistic and premised on an initial fallacy. Look at the justification of murder in the old Testament and what Al Qaeda/Al shabaab and the similarity is striking.

Give some examples.

There is the talking snake, and the immaculate conception, and many other things that if you were told here and now, you would laugh at someone for being crazy. The bible is a well-intentioned book, but it must be taken with a pinch of salt! smile

"When a great mind is taught science and philosophy he has to search for a God; when a small mind is bombarded with science and philosophy, he becomes an atheist!"
There's been so many religions and religious literature, the BIBLE has stood the test of time and it's even baked by secular history.
CHRIST is the way and the only truth that sets us free.

Just playing devil's advocate here but how can you use bible verses to prove that the bible is not made up? That's like a mad man trying to prove he isn't mad by acting like a mad man.

That's why religion is based on faith not fact.
In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.
