You were a great Kenyan, a legend who was truly decades ahead. I admire your strong will and can do spirit to conserve Kenya's natural resources at a time when such thoughts/ actions were considered lunacy. Thank you for putting Kenya on the map positively, and for fighting the good fight. Rest in Peace...

With hind sight it was probably not right for that child to go on a publicity spree about her own cured cancer urged on by her handlers. It might have unwittingly dampened the spirits of Maathai and others who are slowly loosing the fight yet are not hogging our televisions for cheap social mileage from their conditions. Maathai still remains unbowed.

Wangari Maathai in my opinion is why alot of young girls realized they do not have to sit back and hopefully meet some rich guy and become his housewife, young girls realized that you too can go to school and become an independent woman. Note this is not the same independent woman that FIDA portrays, rather a strong woman who stands for her principles and is unbowed by MO1. That woman had nerves of steel, we salute you and may your legacy last for generations to come.
