Hmmmm, the tangled webs we weave...
IMHO, i give such an arrangement time, time before the full repercussions of their actions begin to become visible. Time before their daughter/son is unable to form meaningful relationships because of the precedent that has been set and they begin to blame, hate, resent their parents.
Time before the continual psychological strain begins to take a toll on their mental and physical health.
