Anyone out there that can lead me to a store/place that i can buy these maize variety for planting. I have visited kenya seed and a couple of stores but not available.

In Transmara. I'll have a makeshift store during harvest. I want to plant 20 acres

@Mmarto and the rest. What are the advantages of those two seeds over the rest? Need to make use of some idle land and would appreciate informed opinions.

@Borsenmaker, will appreciate the no, @elder the seeds are do well depending on rainfall, altitude and soil conditions. e.g 6102 is preffered in soils with higher clay content. They also mature in 6 months

@elder, the maize variety you use is dependent on the region you want to plant. Say maize seeds for ukambani will not do in eldoret and vice versa. That determines the variety that you plant and eventually how long it takes to mature. I know in kisii it take 6 months, Molo 9 months, parts of central 3months, etc. Where do you plan to plant? Yield may be 15-20 sacks/acre of dry maize. Alternatively you can sell the green maize at 85k-120k per canter(works to arnd 1.2 acres)

I haven't got the seedlings yet. it is about the variety(genetic) rather than the soil/water conditions. Ni kama a chinese migrating into kenya, he still remains a small person despite the weather, food environment, etc.

Am planting in Transmara and the season there ends end of July, so am not late. I tried Kenya seed along Kijabe and they said they would not have any new stock till next year(:((((
