Fuel consumption is never a consideration when dealing with this segment. Like Maslow's Hierarchy Theory, these guys operate on a different platform, like comfort, safety, handling, prestige etc

Mzee, if you worry about the above (minuscule) issues, then maybe IMO you are not ready to get the car you talk about......Its 2.7 (petrol?)litre engine, the spares are priced higher (tyre@16k each?) than normal because as Gordon Gecko says, the people who drive the same have accepted and compromised on the fact that they have to pay more to get what they want (comfort, safety, handling, etc)...

@mzee, as others have said, if you are worried about the cost of fuel, then please try a vitz or a probox. By the time you need to buy a prado, the cost of maintaining the car should be your last worry.

This the car for wazee wazima!!!.
1. mine does on average 12km/l
2. Handles both rough terrain and tarmack roads smoothly thanks to the rear airsuspension
3.Sunroof/rear air con plus dvd player makes your long journeys more comfortable
4. This car beats any 4X4 on kenyan roads when it comes to wet road handling
5. Go for it!!!

@ Allank I beg to differ on point 4. In terms of wet driving ride comfort and stability a VX will do better.

May be price is a issue having driven both the VX is better.

Are you guys talking about GX 2.7 or the new TX.L 2.7? The two models are very different.

2010/2011 TX.L is real nice (excellent handling and very agile on the road with a very good view) and not as pricey as the 4.0 VX which is also more thirstier.
