A close relative has recently had to fend for themselves, and I offered to assist. We went to their bank to ask for investment options. The bank (which shall remain nameless) suggested investing in either a call deposit that earns 0.5% pa, or a fixed deposit at 1.5% pa. They will only assist with offshore investments if the amount in question is over KShs 10 million (now you know which bank it was).
I'm looking for a reputable financial advisor/ broker that can assist in building a portfolio from scratch. Despite immediately not knowing who to go to directly, I have the ability to discretely check out the reputation of the advisor / broker.
The ideal portfolio will include both on-shore and offshore investments. It will include local stocks and bonds, and various offshore instruments that are easily liquidated. As both my relative and I are new to the local investing scene, all this will have to be achieved rather painlessly, and access to the local and offshore elements of the portfolio will have to be easily monitored.
Kindly post details of how I can reach you outside this forum, and I will be in touch. I appreciate any assistance I can get.
