why did facbook have to collect the data of its users just to keep it available to third parties ama it was well known objective before??

@mjuajiwastocks you will find that most of the time, it is not Facebook(the company) giving out information, but it's users, who voluntarily post their location, real contact details and various other life details for all others to see.

How many times have you seen your friend posting stuff like, "I'm having so much fun on vacation in the coast!" in their status update? What prevents a thief from forming a fake account with a generic name like 'Joseph Mwangi,' adding you as a friend, then robbing your house after you've told him the house was unguarded as you are in coast?

The things people put out there... Names, phones, employers &positions, real birth dates, emails, addresses,siblings,primary schools, colleges etc what will prevent a nigerian fraudster from calling your employer, for bank details, printing a passport photo from your facebook profile, faking an atm/credit card and cleaning your account (most people use a combination of their names and birth dates as passwords)
