hi good people. Im a new entrant to stock market investment, still in school. Can anyone advice me how i can double my portfolio in 3 months? What should i look out for? How should i trade? Is it a good idea to look out for stocks that look good at opening and buy, then sell when the price soars by a good margin before the end of the day? Advice me please.

My friend you are placing too many expectations on our dear stock market. It is impossible to get in and get out of a company on the same day In the 1st 3 months of 2011 no company doubled in value meaning if you invested in jan you havent doubled your money.. Until you get your emotions under control and your expectations lowered then this market is not for you. Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

To be in the stock market you require patience, this is not a pyramid scheme. Take your time and learn first...there is always something new to learn in stocks, doesnt matter how many years you've been trading or investing. From your talk, you want to be a trader not an investor but there are advantages and dis on both maybe you can search threads like stock market for beginners. or you can use wikipedia to seach terms that are used like stock trader, stock investor, E/P, EPS etc. Something else, dont even think of rushing to a broker and ask them on what to buy...the only thing they care about is commission, so as I said...do a lot of reading...ie having interest is a must!!!

Here are some of my questions; 1.what do you mean i cant be in and out of a company in a day? Cant i buy a stock when its cheap and sell when its price soars significantly in the same sission 2.im well aware that no comapny has doubled its worth in 3 months, but with a mix of different stocks in my portfolio n if i trade well, buying cheaply and selling at higher price, wudnt i be able to increase my portfolio value substantially if not double it within that time frame?

@ojazy chances that you will only pick winning stocks, and not the losing ones are very slim. Add trading costs that are based on the whole transaction, not your profit! Life is short. Live passionately.

Add trading costs that are based on the whole transaction, not your profit! ahaa!that i get sparky, but its all a risky venture isn't it? Whether im in it short term or long term.so how would you go about it? My strategy as a begginer would be to buy stocks that have good speculative hype and wait on them to soar in price, sell when i feel it cant rise any more and showing signs of declining,to lock down my profits(trading costs taken into account)..and id sell those stocks that dont live up to their speculative hype once they fall by kedo 2percent cutting my losses....what say you?

That was about getting your money after selling shares it was not about settlement period. Settlement period is still 4 days I think...although there is a way you can escape settlement period but I will rather not raise that issue again. Just do the right thing.
