My niece did her KCSE and did well but not like she expected. She now wants to apply for re-mark in at least two subjects that she feels her performance was not rightfully reflected in the result. She has asked if I can fund this adventure and I have given a tentative yes.

Now before I can encourage her to follow up does anyone know whether the remark system is fair and would give the right result whichever way it is or there are other systems in play? What are the chances that the remark would be more punishing just to discourage such applications?

Would appreciate assistance from those who have information or better still those who have been through it.

I'm made to understand they bring in the meanest teachers in the land.High chances are, she's likely to end up with lower marks/points.

And it will cost you Kshs 60,000. That is payment for one semester...

@Guka, Carygoh, MsMkenya and Wairegi thanks a lot. Great thing I asked first. Her interest is to gain at least two more points so as to be assured of getting admission for a pretty competitive course that she wants but it seems the cons far outweigh the pros. Will try and talk her out of it.
