Good results beyond analyst estimates, but the shares just wobble. There are many possibilities :-

(i) They are fully priced irrespective of the sterling performances.

(ii) Better returns in terms of bonus were expected.

(iii) Miserly dividend (relative to dividend yield) of EB

I hope Jubilee do not tow the same line because from precedent, it is a miserly company in terms of returns to shareholders.

My Thoughts

For those speculating on those stocks, the best bet is to hold and wait for Q1 results in a couple of months time.

If the momentum is sustained in terms of good performance in Q1, then your expectation of KCB at 30+, EB at 35* and BBK at 75+ will be met.

My last bet is DTB, let's wait n see where it takes us.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

it's my first and last bet, and also jubilee. The current trend i have to say, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. The share has come back to 140 after over a month, wonder if its tied with results. We watch and we wait......

@Mzee Young,
There has been little excitement in the market despite stellar performance of the financials. I doubt if any one expected the kind of results KCB produced. I would have expected it to trade at a p/e of not lest than 10, implying a price of about KES 28 a share.I doubt it will remain at 23 for long. I do not expect BBK to produce kind of results in Q1 since they benefited from one off sell of custodial business.KCB's performance will largely depend on the group's performance. I see huge prospects in SS. I espect Equity too to perform well. The group's results indicate faster break-even in new branches outside Kenya than KCB.
The 30-35 prices are quite feasible.

I think DTB will behave no different than other banks which have posted equally stellar results. NIC too gave a bonus and the share price is stagnant.

True that! But it seems the market will go much lower. 2008 all over again? StatMeister, I see you are back from your self-imposed exile...

I tend to disagree with that... Investors need yield and soon they will have no option but to get into the high yielding kenyan stocks including the KCB's and the BBK's...

There will be nothing to stop the NSE when Q1 results are released... That's when most of the factoring in takes place

Will the global economy and the Arab Crises have no impact at all on NSE performance?
