Bamburi commissioned a new Sh9.6 billion ($120) million plant in Uganda last year, which is expected to boost output by 500,000 tonnes.
The year ahead looks tough with competitors focusing on price and value-addition.

Entry of Devki Steel Mills Ltd’s National Cement late last year added to the increasing competition in the cement market.

Other new players include CATIC of China, Mombasa Cement and Cemtech Sanghi Group’s Pokoti Cement, who are challenging the dominance of Bamburi Cement, East African Portland Cement, Athi River Mining.
