I gave a headsup on EACables a few weeks ago to one @maina20. Have a look at this thread.... http://www.wazua.co.ke/f...spx?g=posts&t=10704
@the deal, The Tanzania loss was a once off loss write -off. That is indicated in the results announcement today.

I think this is a brilliant perfomance considering other factors. Cables is affected mainly by the fluctuating LME metal prices, which have been unfortunately going upwards. Cheaper counterfeit cables from India/China have had an impact on the biz. Gross turnover was as a result of the increase in prices rather than increase in copper tonnage sold.At current prices,as well believed in brand,i think EAC is a good share to hold. While the results are better than we envisaged due to the profit warning, they are still not commendable. Main point to note is that there is still a reduction in profits in the company (for the group it was expected). The Dividend yield is OK and the bonus will of course excite in the short term. For speculators, of course this is a godsend. Note it has started well today, and considering it is a TCL share and they are DESPERATE to list this year, maybe they will prop it up. On that consideration alone, I am IN, if I can get it at a decent price. Purely for SPECULATION. I do not intend to stay in for long.

My decent price was pegged between 17.50 and 18. There is no way that I am going to chase this baby to the current outrageous ASKing prices. So, I guess you can count me out (out of the party, if there will be one).
Sour grapes? - maybe, but then there are other fish in the sea, ama? I have learnt that when you are speculating on a company whose fundamentals have not changed dramatically, it only pays if you get in early!!! Good luck mlennyma et al.

@mwanahisa. Good to have you back.(I know you've been back for over a week but still). Why dont you start your own ka thread. Your speculative moves are insightful. Your comments are also a breath of fresh air, compared to some suffocating predictions, we've had to endure thro dec. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself
