I have a premio fitted with 14 inch wheels. My road to and from home is Manyaja road in Doni,if you use the road then you are with me. Some crazy bumps were erected there that my car almost swings on top. Those bumps hit the car huko chini mpaka I feel like crying. I am being adviced to put 'double springs'. It has spacers which do not seem to help.

Will double spacers help? Could it be the shocks? Any mechanic around Tena/Umoja/Doni rounda in the da house,please advice,if possible,give directions to your garrage so i can come over for a chat.

Double springs?........How is that done??...Fitting another set of spacers means you will have an extra 50mm between the body and spring seats.What happens to the COG of the car??......You compromise the car's stability and hence your safety.......Two things you can do.Fit new Monroe coil springs.They have 6 coils in place of the normal 5.You can also opt to replace your wheel set with size 15......or better still do a combination of both....

I had a similar problem with my premio - the car was literally 'bouncing'

I had opted not to put in spacers when i imported the car but instead increased the profile of the tyres from 65% to 70% (Now 14' 185R70) but that did not offer much clearance.

So later I figured that the springs / shocks were the problem and paid a visit to Oriel Kenya (who btw are the Monroe distributors) and changed all shocks and springs - they did the fitting free. My pocket felt the BIG pinch but the car became much more stable,handles better and I have greater clearance even when I've bebad big guys.

Best time to do Monroe shocks is to time when they have these special offers (usually April and Nov/Dec). As a matter of fact,a good number of vehicle spares are on discount during this time.

@Njunge - I knew exactly what I was doing.

I prefer to keep as close to the car specs as possible. I also work with fact.

Spacers reduce stability to some extent so i opted out of that.
Increasing the profile to 70% reduces the chances of getting tyre bursts on our roads + a more comfortable ride. Also gave me 1.85 cm of clearance. Have a look at http://www.kouki.co.uk/u...l-tyre-size-calculator.

Through in new springs and shocks increases the stability and the handling as well as bring the clearance to what it should be.

So I'm not as ignorant as you might think.
