Again Ukambani and north eastern leaders are looking for stick after the snake biteShame on you Shame on you .....there is 90% crop failure this year and they have started begging for food ......Last year maize was being destroyed by afloxins due overproduction and lack of storage facilities .....

I tetead ngilu out of lack of knowledge ...apologies wazuans .....

where are the dams and boreholes she claims to have 'dug' in Ukambani? of what economic value are they if they cant arrest the water problem?

Ukambani is thirsty of water and Leadership...and Mr 'Smart clean guy' Kalonzo .....you are a let down to the republic of Ukambani......23 years as their leader and your people are dying of hunger ......and you blame weather when a good planning would have ensured food is stored in preparation for famine years .....dams are dug etc

Need some education on dam technology.

Are they concreted to prevent water seepage. And what about evaporation? Heard about posssibility of having water throughtout year even with two months of rainfall/yr. How's it done?

By the way you dont have to go to Israel for the 'magic' technology.

There is a dam owned by a lodge /camp near Delamere farm near L Elementaita.Its situated on the hills where the soil/rocks are very porous , yet it can hold water throughout the year for the water requirement of the lodge.
They put some concrete in the floor of the dam and covered it with a waterprove convas to avoid evaporation.
A little rain is enough to fill the dam.

Once water is collected in the dam only purification is done.Its a small dam but holds millions of litres of water enough to satisfy several villages with water requirements .Shame on the water ministry for shoddy jobs and tax payers money waste

@Alikujia,
Concrete would be damn expensive.....You can use "Canvas" as Niando says....Actually,they are referred to as dam liners or Geo-membranes.This prevent seepage and you can have dam covers to keep off evaporation and algae growth.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
