Just noticed an advert on todays daily on results of Directors election for mumias. what is striking is the number of votes..

1.Sarah jepkemoi chumo- 307,807,147
2.Hon Amos wako- 307,708,936
3.Sakwa bunyasi- 307,519,773
etc etc

My question is... are there really this number of voters/shareholders or how do they come up with such figures?

Genuine question so msinimalize na porojo mingi..d'oh!

@Chemos & Bugatti, agreed that One Share = One Vote.

I think though its wrong to accumulate the votes garnered by the 3 directors who won to arrive at the total votes cast. It appears there were 3 vacancies on the board - meaning each share was voting for each vacancy. Looks like a Shareholder [or more having 'ganged' up] with a total of about 307m shares voted for each of the 3 winners hence the landslide by them - as is usual in corporate Kenya.

The total number of shares would therefore be the 307m block plus the odd others who voted for each winner plus the miserable numbers garnered by the unsuccessful candidates - about 20% of the issued shares!
