Merali silences his critics by posting 87% Growth in EPS for FY ending 30.09.2010, in arguably his only Gemstone, Sasini!
Hereunder are the highlights:
REVENUE - Up 5% to 2,297,927

PROFIT BEFORE TAXATION up 82% to 1,382,376

PROFIT AFTER TAX up 86% to 980,907

EPS (KSHS) ON OPERATING ACTIVITIES up 158% to 1.55
EPS (KSHS) ON BIOLOGICAL ASSETS up 0.62 to 2.75
NET EPS (KSHS)up 0.87 to 4.3

Honestly, Merali has beaten me to this. Knowing him and his antics, i was expecting an EPs of 2.66, Full stop!
With today's price closing at 13, the stock is trading at a PE of 3.02 against a sector PE of 5.52 as at close of business last week, meaning at this sector PE, it should average at 23.736, a CAPITAL GAIN OF 82.58%
SOMEONE HELP ME, AM I DREAMING?

Lets see how the market responds!

FYI, figures are in thousands!
I still don't understand why Merali thought to send results on Excel sheets rather than have them on PDF!

The crucial number is the 1.55 from operations, final dividend? .Also note revenues are only 5% up on a good year for tea,so what fueled the rise in EPS?.

So... when Williamson posted 100%+ PAT [including biological gains] Sasini does 86%+ but includes huge Biological Gains. So the Operating Profit growth was much lower...

I still don't like merali firms... Or the chap as long as he is there...

I hear dividend is @30cts. So he still managed to pull a merali on shareholders after all. Wasn't dividend last yr @40cts? Now let's watch the share price go down...

Interesting about Sasini but as @2012 notes, DPS gets to dip in keeping with expectation.

Am not sure this is out of scope but am interested in understanding Airtel Kenya's capital structure and Merali's stake. Might help understand the so called irrational behaviour by Airtel.

. Agree with Vvs, @ SPT, joining Merali firm because of the announced good results is like sheep cerebrating fattening fodder not knowing it's due for slaughter and frying. P/s note the discrepacy btn revenue growth and profit growth.
