my Layman's economic thinking would be to lower power prices as supply exceeds demand this would lead to kenyans consuming more power ie, i know many who would like to run their ac full time but power is prohibitive, another would be to lower prices of electrical appliances for homes small industries in place of fuel powered machines, a good example is in my construction industry where i would like to use electric concrete mixer instead of the noisy diesel one

Waah and KRA still expects to collect more revenue

Bollore are being economical with the truth.

In March 2018 Bollore partnered with SGR to fill a whole train with 108 TEUs.

Plus most taxes are going into a black hole.Like the 1.5% deduction for the housing scheme. You have better chances of buying a house by staking 1.5% of your salary on Sportpesa than contributing to that housing scheme.

The housing scheme tax will not be implemented. I spoke to the president

But the reason they have give is true, the retrenchment/redundancy has been caused by SGR. How is that being economical with the truth.

The bear that began towards end of 2014 was triggered by treasury wanting to introduce capital gains tax on the NSE. Since then it has been a downward spiral. From electioneering period, skyrocketing debt, interest rate cap, and now low liquidity in the economy and taxes everywhere. Treasury mandarins keep chest-thumping that we're on the right course. It's sad really.

Unless the average voter fervently demands for better governance, calls for political accountability as well as efficient management of public resources to liberate the country from the current shackles and manacles of its power-thirsty and corrupt political elites, Kenya will remain a failed project that forever eats its own children.

Actually it's proof that corruption is happening on a massive scale by a clique of connected individuals. I personally have increased my family wealth over the stated period but I am aware of many people who have lost jobs, lost livelihoods, corporate companies that went under or are barely surviving..

Agreed @Obiero... The barometer is corporate earnings at the NSE... Given by recent interim earnings reports... NSE companies are barely surviving... So which sector are these super richs being minted from? Real Estate? Banking? Aviation? The corruption sector of course... It's very lucrative... Take for example Kenya Power can report a loss yet some jamas in that financial year became super rich by selling faulty transformers lol

.. A huge chunk of the Kenyan budget flows into individual pockets each year thus minting new millionaires...

I say NSE companies because..

1. Deep pockets
2. Talent
3. Corporate history
4. Super brands
5. Monopolies
