One last thing.....Which thief do you know who would use a route where there is a possibility that their car would get stuck?..in sand...after what these guys reported,we can safely assume that there will be no car jackings in the rainy season since there is no way a car could pass where they claim track it car jackers could pass.....The more I think about this story,the more I would like independent verification.

@nanfor,get me right… at this point am not sure if my car has the device or not,but am sure I have paid for the device for two years running… the reputation of 'unTrack It' has been damaged either truthfully or through malice…. for damage control they should simply prove to me that I have a device that works by giving me the location of my car…. and am assuming it should be done at a click of a button…. Ama how is the tracking device expected to work???

@ wendz - i think the guys behind the standard group (ktn) are the same as the guys behind car track. That may explain why they could risk it.

So far we know that KTN guys checked several cars and allegedly did not get the devices. What if the devices are of such a type and are so installed that they cannot be located by anyone other than Track It? They should have been more believable if they had the Track It guys fail to trace a car said to be fitted with the device.

The other concern is with privacy issues (one reason why I do not use Nakumatt Smart card btw); just how did they get access to the details of the cars fitted with the Track It device? Did the owners consent to their being obtained and did Track It allow it to be released to them? I think there may be something in the Communication Amendment Act of 2008 making that illegal.

This incident shows just how powerful the media can be and how they can destroy you. I say that because I am very sure that the Standard Group would not let any story undermining what they have already given out to come out and NMG would probably just stay out of it.

@nanfor - I generally find your arguements in this matter persuasive however I feel that the company has really been dealt a fatal blow and the way they have handled the response has been incompetent. In fact the last person who should have come to address the issues should not have been the MD - too emotional,one look at him and you are like 'the dude is guilty' and his general demenour is like that guy Melli at Standard Group.

@ZZE123 - Just out of curiousity; you mean when the device was 'installed' you did not give it a trial,like insist on there telling you where your car is just to prove it is working? Do not have it myself but been reading of people being able to trace their cars from the Track It website. Does that really work for everybody or do you have to pay premium?

I am having my doubts about both parties. KTN - The thinnest $20k I have ever seen. That envelope was/looked thin. And what's with throwing the $20 bills in the air? That is 1,000 notes. No way that envelope could have 1,000 $20 notes.

Track-It: Why has the MD not been arrested?

@nanfor,

Independent verification by whom?

Most of the vehicles driven across the border are 4x4 Suv's and so would not have a problem getting stuck.

Good question. If the device is easy to find then what's the point? An experienced thief will remove it.

I know you all catched the 9p.m one or else Swahili is a big PROBLEM just like Track IT!!

Doubt if the MPs were pulled to it for sake.. This thing is TRUE... RUN NOW!!!!

@mkenyan,

totally agree with you. They should never have allowed the accused MD to appear on TV. In fact,just having a mechanic claim that the said guy who was the 'expert' was fired would have sufficed. I feel for him but even if he is innocent,I doubt anyone other than his mother would believe him after what I saw.

I know it is illegal for anyone other than track it to have information about their business and clients. I don't know about Kenyan lawyers but anyone who is on that list that Moha has should be able to sue track it in any other country. Track it also has a great business secrets case against standard especially since standard and car track may be related. All they have to do is show that since KTN has their documents,they basically STOLE them. (any kenyan business lawyer in the house?)

To me this story is a great story. However,I think prudent journalism should have taken this story in a different direction with no chance of counter arguments.

They should have got the Ruto guy to claim his car was stolen. Driven his car to TZ (of course having told some cop about it),and shown how easy it was to steal the car. Then ask the question 'did track it even install the gadget?'. Kweli how hard was that?

It would then have been upto track it to prove that they install the devices then KTN would have brought their allegations. Otherwise,it reeks of a set up.

@ZE. I am not supporting track it. However,guys like you are a dime a dozen and come up with claims anytime you see a TVcamera and even a forum.

@Chaka...Surely independent verification cannot be done by a disgruntled former employee who is probably working for Car Track as we speak.

@all..this to me is an excellent study in any business school on how not to deal with the media. It is also an excellent case study on how much power should be given to the media. Have you noticed how no one wants to sue the other. the Mhindi isn't going to sue and Ktn is not taking this case to court.

I just don't believe anyone in this story and if I were you I would keep away from any journalist. In fact,I think I will keep away for sk for a while.You guys could all be cops and journalists selling us fake stories again.
