@marketHEAD,

I propose that you consider getting some Kenya Re. The market is currently not focusing on it, but it is currently trading at a ridiculously low p/e. From their 3rd quarter results, full results should be good. You will then stop chasing institutions.

I learnt the hard lesson with Stanbic Ug, I bought with fear at UGx 120. When the price went to 140 I had money to snap many, but I shied off. At 170 when they announced the extra ordinary half yr dividends, institutions started amassing. Now I am chasing with them at UGx 210.

Good luck

Access Kenya recorded improved turnover last year but since IT segment recorded lower margins 13% in 2009 vs 30% in 2008. The company says it has reversed this trend. Margins from Internet Segment were however improved. Another factor that lead to lower PBT is the increase on depreciation charge which more than doubled in the period.

These results must be the basis for a stagnating price i.e. @ PE of 26 it must recored growth comensurate with this ranking.

On the outlook side, the landing of the fibre optic cables will continue to put pressure on pricing hence the margins should be expected to drop. The question is how fast and how soon will this happen.

AK only stand to benefit if more customers get connected but of course there is the pressure from the mobile companies.

The strategies that AK will take to cover this is what will determine the direction of the price. First Half may shed some light.

@Gatheuzi

Access is trading at a very high p/e. Growth has reduced signifcantly to justify such a high p/e.

I think they will have to work extra hard to manage competition from Safcom. Having used most of cash earned from IPO, it will be a tall order. They must come up with a strategy that will excite the market. Else we will flock to Equity, K Re, KCB, Safcom, Mumias, KPLC, EABL et all.

whats the best entry among the following for a short term game?

safcom @ 5.70
equity @ 17.25
mumias @ 11.30
coop @ 11.00

@marketHEAD... it is almost impossible to get into equity, mumias or co-op because institutions are snapping up all the supply...

but if one can get in this is a very good time for riding the wave on these counters...
@guru - Stop conning folks... u can get all the shares you want in these liquid counters lakini u have to pay the price! You cant bid 5.70 for shares that have huge demand at 5.70 lakini u bid 5.75 or 5.80, etc...

There are plenty of safcom shares available at 5.80 at the moment... maybe not in 4 weeks...

safcom is the easiest counter to enter on the market

@Muchnow et all.

Kenya Re seems to be taking off from current demand. Destination is 18 plus. Instead of asking about date of results, accumulate now!

Guru, remember I told you on another thread that NSE has a trend of peak and dips in certain months of the year.

What's the deal with Kenya Re's monopoly in Kenya for re-insurance? Has it expired?
