And why do you want 'fast' world pricing in 'slow' world??

Back to the thread, Syokimau Railway Line.

I use the train daily.

You have to be at the station at 6.30am to get a seat ow utasimama.

In the cabin that am in, there are more people standing than the seated ones

The parking is also full.

The fares are however reduced 100 for a return ticket n 200 for parking n return.

It wasn't a flop after all!

It always takes time for people to get to terms with things i think its the reason the uptake was slow. Met a KR guy who told me that they have also managed to tame the hikers inside the cabin on routes such us kibera and githurai by increasing the ticketing guys and security personnel. As they build more station am sure kenyans will change accordingly to the rails

@eboomerang the trains are meant for motorists.. The prices are cheaper than fuel + parking fees in town combined!

I'll try this option next month, when rryyzzlet does not need to be dropped in school.Hear there even WiFi connection while aboard the trains.

Kenya Railways to move 11,000 families from Kibera & Mukuru...
Link

September is the target date though this is easier said than done. One of the reasons the Syokimau train stalled that day is because of the encroachment, hence poor drainage and coupled with the garbage makes the track impassable.
Sadly as we enter the rainy season, the disruptions might increase.
But so far the convenience is unbeatable, 25 min to town is unparalleled. Na kwanza that they've started the Southern Bypass Mombasa Road Interchange construction, jam nayo!! And not considering next year when the raised highway construction starts from Nyayo stadium.
Train is quite packed though, when Imara and Makadara go live mid year then strategy needs to change i.e. multiple trains or trips.

Quite impressive – what is the parking capacity for this station?

This week we'll see the addition of 2 other railway routes Imara and Makadara. Then keep watching and waiting as Nairobi county will definitely raise up parking fees

Those implementing need to visit first world countries including south Africa to at least steal the designs and quality. We don't need something that will be redone in a couple of years. Not impressed with quality so far.

Quality of what? Stations? Trains will be upgraded when the rail is overhauled. I think functionality should come first. We are a poor country remember.
