The El-nino year has come to an end. The next one year is a la-nina year. Let's wait and see..the bubble with these stocks in the 1990's lasted 3 years. [/quote] Depends on whether it affects Kenya alone.Going back to last year the prices shot up due to a decline in global output in major tea producing regions. The inverse correlation between production and prices for me should hold up the performance by tea companies.Look at Williamson even a 50% drop at year end will still see EPS at over 30.But half year will definitely beat the previous. If only the directors get the dividend payout right!

still trying to get in. just a thought..heard somewhere..aly khan.. that kakuzi, limuru etc might be force to let go of loads of land pieces within this and next accounting period..at current land valuations...and considering most of their land assets are presented at cost in books..u can imagine impact on P&L as this happens..as well as balancesheet as revaluations get reflected.. ..makes potential impact of La Nina laughable don't you think? ..Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven...Matt5:16 - 1769 Oxford King James Bible 'Authorized Version

[I agree... I hope I have the guts or foresight to sell off by 2012] Tea Prices (& production) are rocking and rolling in 2010... I hope the Tea Party continues in 2011... I was in Thika juzi... Kakuzi is seating on some sweet land! They can build an entire self-contained estate/development to rival Buru Buru... Greedy when others are fearful. But Sasini seems stuck!! Just gained 11% for me while I was hoping for 30-40% by announcement in September (ksh 17/-)
BTW @guru, "When GOD created me he was just showing off" how can we audit God's handiwork?

@ GG, be patient, they'll announce by Jamhuri Day going by last year's trend. My guess is that revenue will hit or exceed Ksh. 3b (from Ksh 2.18b in 2009)and operating profit likely to increase though cashflow will be affected by the first tranche retirement in June 2010 of the CP debt. Though this is a 'Merali' outfit, I like the fact that JB McFie is the chairman - good, clean pair of hands! @ Guru, you need to wait a little longer for Kakuzi results - around March next year. BTW avocados are their saving grace! They've also started a macadamia nut plantation and are of course carrying out a pineapple JV with Del Monte. Rea Vipingo posted a small loss for the first half ending March 2010 (and issued a profit warning), may struggle to match last year's performance. Have diversified into horticulture (baby corn)at their Dwa estate. Also have some good tracts of land in Kilifi where prices have shot through the roof! My two meticals...
