@guru - That is a tough one... to hedge or not to hedge... I know the feeling but even I have been caught on the wrong foot when I did not hedge a US$ position I had taken on a business deal...

As for the operations, I think KQ will do very well... As usual the unions will protest... I think KQ lost a golden opportunity to fire all the staff during the strike 8 months ago...

KQ should have fired all the cabin crew... taken the hit... and re-hired new (or those willing to work) coz the airline market was 'soft' at the time...

well if price has started inching upwards more than a month before results the market must be extremely bullish on the counter.. i think i'll hold out just a little while longer...

Analysts... bah! Kwani where were they when many of the tea stocks & KQ were screaming buys?

I call it as it is... I cant predict prices but I try to keep an eye out of (potential) profits...

I think KQ will have an operational EPS of 5-7 (most of this in 2H) then there are (non-recurring) gains from hedges. The oil prices are much higher than they were at 31 March 2009 or 30 Sep 2010.

Like any business, KQ will have some ups & downs but overall (vs 2008-9), I think they will do much better...

I took my profits and got off this bus. The potential of this baby when I bought it at 23 Kshs to go up was high. More than 100% value has been recovered and given that this is an airline stock, I avoid them when they are priced normally.
I'm now looking for the next bargain.

The nse continues to be bullish. All the major sectors have had a share of the bull. Comms with safcom and kq leading the way, inds just fabulous with MSC etc , tourism with TPS, banks rising hesitantly, agrics who would belief. One sector that is still asleep is the MOTOR industry. Car & gen and cmc - i'll see either of you soon. I dont refuse easy cash.

KQ has definitely been affected by the volcanic ash from Iceland. But market is a bull and I doubt its stock will be affected.
Equity closed the week at 17.15 moving 2.01 million shares. With rumours of it buying NBK, I see it going way higher.
Mumias also looks to be on a fine run finally hitting 11 bob. If it goes past the mark, then it could be on a roll.
By the way is Access Kenya ever going to go higher? Why is its stock subdued, with the fiber optic landing and all? VVS, guru267, gatheuzi and the rest, what do you see in the future of the counter?

@youcan'tstopusnow i dont follow access kenya that much but i'm aware that it has a very high P/E of 20+ and it has problems controlling its costs of expansions and that all the growth is factored into the price....

so i think this it may remain sticky at this price unless the EPS starts catching up... though if this bull market is as serious as it looks then all counters will benefit...

I am surprised anybody would be looking at Access, fixed internet providers are being slaughtered by mobile internet. They better get innovative otherwise it isnt looking up for them.

..mobile fone might not translate to much data consumption compared to the portable modems all these mobile phone service providers are giving... access needs to up there game in corporate sector... and maybe home connections..especially to middle class residential area. Eastlands for one. interestingly safaricom has ignored some parts of nairobi by making only westlands and cbd hotspots..

speeds dunn slow anywhere east of moi avenue!!!!!...making orange cheapest reliable internet these sides... Access will do well if there home connection came here..

@marketHEAD... it is almost impossible to get into equity, mumias or co-op because institutions are snapping up all the supply...

but if one can get in this is a very good time for riding the wave on these counters...
