I think a con is a transaction that you make or accept to participate in believing that you will gain something out of it only to end up with a loss.If a person uses a trick to increase the odds of getting sympathy while begging, then that isn't a con. It is enhanced begging.

For conning to work, the victim needs a promised reward.
If you gave the lady money because you wanted to feel good of your giving and not necessarily to help, then you were conned but if you gave out money because you needed to help you were donating.
