The Pope has signalled the transition of a personal God to a suprapersonal one. This is because the ego has shifted, and is shifting even further due to the boon of the internet, and globalization. Both the Pope and Manson are calling for a new understanding of themselves and God. Manson is revolting against an ego that is only to be contented with fame and wants to see his essence which he believes is art in itself. Interestingly, both affirm an unnamable super ego.
