I know - it's called thread mutation wazua style - 'Nairobi metropolis' bit forgotten....

@JB, how about a drive through the Nairobi National park...enter through Lang'ata, exit from Kitengela side...

Or, drive through Karen, end up at Oloolua forest...very quiet, nice with rivers and waterfall, picnic sites etc...yes, I also didn't believe it is is Nairobi!!!! and entrance fee is like 100Kshs at the gate....thanx to one @Leona...

I recently did Thika- Nairobi- Nakuru- Njoro- Nakuru- Lanet -Dundori- Ol Kalou- Engineer- Jambini- Flyover- Gakoe- Mataara- Gatura -gatanga-Thika.

I FELT GOOD!! Kenya is beautiful. The scenic route and the lush greenery were a sight to behold with a spiritual-almost Godly touch. The road is awesome, funny that few people seem to know. Try and you will never regret.

Freshly recarpeted, though the wetlands in the arbadare forest have led to a few big potholes within the forest section..

.....just did the NBI, village market, kiambu, dumberi, githunguri....etc today: Can't say which had a bigger influence, the fear or the enjoyment.....lol!!!

Sasa unaona. McReggae emerged from Ndumberi route unscathed. Now try the scenic Village market, Tigoni, Limuru route.

Kiambu-Ndumberi-Githunguri is safe throughout as it's heavily populated.

Ndumberi-Limuru is not always safe. But it's one of the most scenic places I've ever seen. Large tea estates, good roads and not much traffic.

Banana-Raini-Tigoni-Limuru is also scenic but unsafe at night.

You may also want to try Ruiru-Kwamaiko-Githunguri...unsafe usiku!! Mpaka there's a stage called Kamiitu.

Githunguri-Uplands and Githunguri-Kagwe-Kimende would be good for scenery were it not for the pathetic state of the 2 roads. But even so the Kimende route gets tricky coz of the forest

Who has been to Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park just near the fourteen falls? Gari ndogo inawezana na huko ndani?

The road is ok to the gate. But youneed a 4wheel to get to the top of Ol Donyo Sabuk (Kilimambogo). But it's better to do a hike up the mountain - it's lovely.

Done the machakos-wote route today. my observations:-
Very scenic route. the hills on the sides, the konza view area where you see konza from high up and definately the twista and turns before kikima junction (utangwa?). That road is pure adrenaline. Small shopping centres in between but wote is a reasonably big town with pretty good accommodation for those who want to spend.
Theo road is bad as one leaves machakos. Average speed of about 40 kph for about 10 km until one gets to katumani KARI research centre. It improves but there are potholes here and there though filled with soil. Average speed of about 80kph and much slower on the bends. Towards WOTE town the potholes are not all covered so caution must be taken. Plan for 2.5 hours from nai in order to absorb the scenery.
There is the junction just before wote that leads to emali but according to the locals the road is not good. otherwise it a nice outing for a sunday. though it definately will take the whole day to and fro. Enjoy.

Beat Me To It. Breathtaking.
