Are you serious??? A company that has NEVER made a profit since inception - under whatever name - Kencell, Celtel, Airtel whatever!!! You are better off with Paka and Olympia.

Don't know much about shares please enlighten me, but I thought the perceived value counts somehow, facebook has never made a profit since inception.

But how does this giant site make money if you can join up for free? The amount of web pages required to run a website for half a billion members must cost considerably! Well, who would be interested in advertising to such a keyword friendly database? Every company on Earth that wants to make money! And so far, surprisingly few companies have really switched on to the fact that they can gain massive targeted exposure for their brand very inexpensively on this colossal site.

C&P from Facebook
......every day more and more companies the world over sign up to get their brand seen here. One way to accomplish that is to set up a free community page about the company or a particular brand the company promotes, such as a popular beer, or an insurance service. The fastest growing paid advertising method is to advertise in the right hand sidebar: you can choose what location, what interests, and what gender and age your advertisement appears to. That is far more powerful for any business than advertising in a directory.

C&P
Facebook said it would seek to raise $5bn (£3.16bn, 3.8bn euros), about half the amount many analysts expected.

But the initial public offering (IPO) is still expected to be the biggest sale of shares by an internet company.

Facebook, just eight years old and started by Harvard University students, now has 845 million users and made a profit of $1bn last year.

If the speed was at a constant 512 Kbps (Kilobits per seconds), then it is impossible to download 35gb per day because the maximum downloads in 24 hrs with a constant 512 Kbps connection is 5.4 Gigabytes

512 Kilobits Per Second x 60 = 30720 Kilobits Per Min
30720 Kilobits Per Min x 60 = 1843200 Kilobits Per Hour
1843200 Kilobits Per Hour / 8 = 230400 Kilobytes per hour
230400 Kilobytes per hour / 1024 = 225 Megabytes Per Hour
225 Megabytes Per Hour x 24 = 5400 Megabytes per 24 Hrs / 1000 = 5.4 Gigabytes

This would make sense if it was meant to be 35gb per week, because 35 / 5.4 will give 6.5, which is about 7 days, but if it was per day, then, the speeds would obviously have to be more than 512 kbps.

To do 35 Gb per day would mean that the speed would need to be at least 3319 Kbps or 3.2 Mbps - Being the networks average speed?

(35 Gb / 5.4 Gb) 512 Kbps= 3319 Kbps
3319 Kbps / 1024 = 3.2 Mega bits per seconds

Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

Apparently it is actually possible to bypass the limitations set by the network and download huge volumes of data. See link...

“The unit that the consumer is paying for is not quantifiable or valid. It’s like a water company charging users for the pipe as opposed to the amount of water they use,” said telecommunications consultant Thomas Makau.

Other industry players also confess to having experienced similar problems with subscribers on the same model.

“Unlimited is supposed to be an individual-usage plan, but we have seen people run whole businesses on the plan,” said Telkom-Orange’s Angela Ng’ang’a-Mumo.

Additionally, some users have learned to bypass the speed and data usage limitations.

“It is possible to bypass the limitations. People took advantage of the network to download massive amounts of data,” said technology commentator Kennedy Kachwanya.

Unlimited bundles had been popular internationally until recently when a series of firms abandoned them amid legal suits.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Thanks for the article. It's now clear how 35 Gb per day was possible.

Hence the reason it was scrapped coz it amounted to a misrepresentation of facts and thus left them open to legal suits. Airtel and Orange are in effect still lying to you that they have unlimited internet yet they have a fair usage policy. If anybody tells you that they can offer you unlimited internet on a shared platform that person is cheating you...
