Despite KK commanding such a big share of Wazua's Investor discussion, Wazua seems to have missed their announcement in the Announcement section yet they have Limuru Tea who had put a small ad probably trying to hide because of the negligible dividend. When is book closure?

BBI will solve it

I am a shareholder there and I actually prefer the quiet way LT goes about their business. We are very few shareholders at LT (just 100 as at 31.12.2009). I guess many Wazuans would care less about LT's results. But LT is one hell of a gem. If you can get it, buy while no one else is interested. And don't let the low dividend worry you.

I am watching this state case with hawk eyes due to its significance! If KPC is put on the red fence that will be like a forced privatization?! Looks like a reversed Enron... With volatile oil & a spiking inflation, what timing...?!
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

There is nothing new in this story. Its a case of a jounalist empty of ideas and recycling what is already in the public domain to remain relevant or face the axe for non performance. If anything new develops on this matter Mr JIS will duly inform us.

@BGL, methinks you are rather impatient and expect KK to move faster.

Reports:Sumayya Athman confirmed as National Oil Corporation of Kenya MD.

Well after facing such a debacle in the acting capacity lets hope he will make prudent decisions once she is confirmed.

@selah - athman knows where the bodies are hidden. She knows who was involved in which deal... She could have spilled the beans!

So KK expects prices to rise another KES 7.20 which means I am going to jaza my tank & some 20-gallon jerricans on 13th. At KK of course!

Is there is a chance that some stations will run out of fuel on 14th? Or simply not sell any until the 15th?

http://www.liveoilprices...forecasts-150-soon.html

On Friday 15th going by the volatile trend of oil prices, ERC will most likely increase pump prices by 7 - 9% as per the international price volatility. So I expect to see the prices below.

Low estimate...
Super - 102.5 + 7% = 109.60
Diesel - 94.5 + 7% = 101.10

High estimate...
Super - 102.5 + 9% = 111.70
Diesel - 94.5 + 9% = 103.00

I'm not going to bother with jet fuel and kerosene since the same estimates are applicable...

KQ fuel costs will eat into profitability... The share price will remain depressed...
Industrials will continue experiencing high power costs. This is not helped by the fact that Aggreko has another two month contract extension - http://www.foxbusiness.c...tract-months-newspaper/

And finally, the CPI or inflation index will spike to the double digits.

Unless the smart guys can come up with a way to overhaul the oil dependency curse immediately, I don't see how oil won't break beyond $150, MENA crisis or not...

@hisah - It will not be immediate (5-10 years) but the smart folks in the West [not sure about the East but only SA in Africa does anything meaningful] are working on some novel solutions...

1) Use of non-oil sources for plastics. This means the demand for oil will drop.

2) Conversion of near-oil to oil like Shale & Coal. South Africa & Canada lead the way.

3) Improvements in technology means less fuel/km needed. That's why we get cheap mitumba cars! See hybrids in Japan, UK & USA. Always improving the range.

4) Microbes being bred to convert cellulose to fuel. Even better than ethanol.

Because KPC recognizes that the fact of service of the winding up notice will once again be given the widest possible adverse publicity
in the media, it wishes to take this early opportunity to reassure its business partners, users, employees and other stakeholders that
it is taking necessary advise with a view to safeguarding its position in order to ensure that it continues to fulfill its mandate without
disruption.

Advise from who? once the court sends a receiver manager can KPC really do anything?

Well, let them take whatever advise they want over the next 20 days... In the meantime, KK is in pole position!
