[quote=the deal]5 Cardinal Signs that the NSE is bottoming

Oh how we all wish we had the powers to tell in advance that the market is about to reach it's peak and it's time to sell and buy at the bottom when prices are at their rocky bottom? that way we could shield our portfolio's from losses and beat the market time and time again, but since figuring out market tops and bottoms has proved elusive to investors World wide what are the cardinal signs of a market bottom? According to an article published on the Motley Fool way back in October 2008 and my own research, it listed the following indicators as signs of a stock market bottom?

@the deal do you have a "Investment Advisor" licence from the CMA? continue calling yourself "we" until CMA come calling... utafungwa!

i felt the reprieve today when i fueled! Also i got 45. Units of power for 450 bob, which before would've only got me 20-25. Me thinks, one of the ingredients of market recovery have been added to the pot, low inflation. I expect a significant reduction in inflation next month.

Good stuff... Let Fuel & Energy inflation relief underpin a recovery in Q1 as the long-rains bolster growth as from Q2 and beyond smile

You would have thought with the ICC lurking, the market would grind to a halt. Still, strong demand for Equity and Safaricom today...

We will need huge entry (buy) volume to breakdown 3400 - 3500 resistance (selling zone). As in enough buyers to clean out the sellers around that level. The other critical selling zone is 4000 - 4100. When this is cleared, the bulls will be ready to go forward without fear. Still a long way before the party starts...

Also the number of NSE firms issuing profit warnings (blue chips to boot) is not yet well reflected by the prices. The bad news is not yet baked into the market IMHO esp now that I've come across a number of 'analysts' reports saying so (i.e. the market has baked it in). The optimism is still high. These analysts' reports need to become bearish to signal a major turnaround.

Support for now is still 3000 - 3070. If that breaks, it won't be funny.

I see alot of life in that chat, as long as the NSE20 does not trade below 3078 we have bottomed, a break out above 3500 will confirm the bottom...for now we are still trading in the 1 year bearish channel.

Eh... Houston we got a problem aboard...

No wonder NSE is seeing anaemic volume since 2010...

That pension scheme behaviour is a socio-economic worrying trend & gubberment needs to look at it carefully. If workers feel their pension funds are losing value with minute job growth or investment opportunities, you end up with a restless middle class. That's a hot political powder keg that can bring down any regime. It is happening in euroland & the labor strikes & riots are increasing...
