Equity ndani ndani ndani kabisa!!! Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

EABL halves dividend as profit falls to Sh12bn board of directors have recommended a final dividend of Sh1.75 per share, adding to the interim payout of Sh3.75 per share, which brings the total to Sh5.5 per share. This is 50 percent below the prior year’s distribution, which comprised an interim dividend of Sh3.75 per share and a final one of Sh7.25 per share for an aggregate of Sh11 per share. https://www.businessdail...falls-to-sh12bn--4318446In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. Majority shareholders can sometimes be so self-serving. In my assessment this may be Diageo's tactic to refill cash coffers after the share buybacks. Diageo might be ok with the dividend sacrifice but are the minority shareholders ok with it?
Or worse, the 20% drop in EABL's profitability, could be a gauge of our current economy and therefore a proxy for the extent of drops to be expected by other companies going forward.

There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope

Look at EABL's cashflow. The cash from operations was just enough to pay the dividends that had been declared. They had to rely on proceeds from new loans to pay down an exisiting loan and invest in new facilities for the business. A high dividend is unsustainable cashflowise

A high dividend is unsustainable cashflowise I have always been puzzled at EABL's dependency on debt given they have been in business for 100 years. At this stage in their life as a mature company, they should be able to finance growth organically with retained earnings. Yet ( much like a much younger company) they are always having to lean heavily into debt financing.

Diageo is benefitting through other means like interest on the shareholder loans advanced to EABL Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle
