Playing the stock market without insider info...is like buying a cow in the moonlight.

@ Waria, thank you for your kind words.

We are an interconnected world. With a few keystokes,we can transverse great geographical distance. The internet has intertwined global finance enabling funds to flow unhindered from the whiff of default to the beckon of profit.

The global financial crisis was a litmus test of capital flows. No nation was spared. Therefore,I humbly submit my commentary on global markets with a view to pinpointing developments that may affect the local investor and citizen.

I penned a note on sugar on November 3rd concerning sugar. You will find more in the archives and charts on our Facebook page:

Energy has both a correlation to the U.S. dollar and global economic performance. The Dollar is headed southwards, thus, crude oil which is traded in that currency will head upwards to compensate for loss in purchasing power. Tepid global growth will drag crude's advance somewhat although the Far East is on a firm economic footing, possibly once again acting as the engine to global growth. On a timing perspective, analysis by Martin Armstrong points to the Dollar bottoming in 2015 - 2016. Energy, gold and other commodities will thus reach their peak then.

The historic gold:oil ratio has been 15. Back of the envelope estimates on oil prices based on Alf Field's conservative gold estimates are:

Phase 3 move from $500 to $2,500 gold - $166 oil

Phase 5 move $2,000 to $6,000 gold - $400 oil

His aggresive estimates:

Phase 3 move from $700 to $3,500 gold - $233 oil

Phase 5 move $2,500 to $10,000 gold - $666 oil

Please note that we are in the Phase 3 move. You can find Alf's projections here:

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich,a great equalizer.

The professor then said,'OK,we will have an experiment in this class on the present administration’s plan'.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed,to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away,no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

A short guy is sitting at a bar just staring at his drink for half an hour when this big trouble-making central banker steps next to him, grabs his drink, gulps it down in one swig and then turns to the guy with a menacing stare as if to say,‘What’cha gonna do about it?'

The poor little guy starts crying.

'Come on man,I was just giving you a hard time,' the banker says. 'I didn’t think you’d CRY. I can’t stand to see a man crying.'

'This is the worst day of my life,' says the little guy between sobs. 'I can’t do anything right. I overslept and was late to an important meeting,so my boss fired me. When I went to the parking lot,I found my car was stolen and I don’t have any insurance. I left my wallet in the cab I took home.'

He continues, crying even harder. 'Then my dog bit me. So,I came to this bar trying to work up the courage to put an end to my life. And then you show up and drink the damn poison.'

Heaviest Element Yet Known to Science: (Gv)

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element,Governmentium (Gv),has one neutron,25 assistant neutrons,88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons,it is inert; however,it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second,to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 – 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact,Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money,Governmentium becomes Administratium,an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

@ Young. The system used to post this forum in the 'Investments' section but nowadays places it on 'Other Discussions' regardless of my choice of Investments on the menu.

London's Financial Times tackles the issue of dwindling global supply in the midst of rising investment demand. Just last week,Barrick Gold's CEO coined the phrase 'peak gold'.

'The world’s top gold mining companies have warned that global production of the precious metal is likely to resume a long-term decline in coming years,in spite of a record-breaking surge in the price of gold to more than $1,100 an ounce.

Much of gold’s recent rise to an all-time high of $1,122.85 last week has been due to the weaker dollar and huge inflows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs),as investors have sought sanctuary from the financial crisis by buying physical assets.'
