Money they don't have and can't afford to pay. This was so much expected, and there must have been provision for that.

Am thinking this is good for KQ and bad for the staff who were fighting to be reinstated! The man who marries a beautiful woman, and the farmer who grows corn by the roadside have the same problem

The boeing will land and crush,no mercy even they are in the loss territory and i hope that is the highiest court without appeal. "Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning."

You put it to sound as if the news makes you feel good Tyre burst can never be confused for a crash or even crash landing The only difference is the upward adjusted compensation for former staff affected(Most of us feel sorry for those who lost their livelihood though). Even if it goes to 1.5bn, that is insignificant compared to an annual budget of >100Bn. Effect: Change of tyre will only delay but not cancel the take off.

KQ is not for those in the market in the short haul. If your time-span is 1yr please wachia Obiero hii. Ok now to the news. Quote: An air ticket to fly Kenya Airways from Uganda’s Entebbe airport to Jomo Kenyatta in Nairobi has become the hottest selling item in the region. This disarray in the aviation industry comes three weeks after the suspension of Air Uganda – the other alternative airline on the 45-minute route. Ticket prices for Kenya Airways (KQ) have shot up to between $500 and $1,500, more than twice the previous amount, according to Kelley Mac Tavish, the executive director, Pearl of Africa Tours and Travel.
This has made the Entebbe – Nairobi flight probably the most expensive shortest flight route in the world, with KQ exploiting the gap by increasing its flights out of Entebbe to seven, from five every day. That fare hike is just unfair unethical and in very bad taste if its true. But I guess Entebbe has increased their fees as well @VVS by the way the meals have greatly improved "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .

Why hike the fares by that much, it's totally unfair and just goes to show us how bad that animal known as 'monopoly' can be, given a chance.
On the other hand, I hope the shareholders benefit too, or at worst it helps KQ reduce their debts.

@murchr - Is that biz class or economy? Looks like biz class to me. There is substantial space between your tray & the seat/cabinet/footrest in front of you. There is a tablecloth, silverware and butter in a bowl. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Haha...I guess thats the only cabin where they serve champagne. But i should expect close to the same service at the economy class "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. Let airlines find their optimal fairs using their own choice of principles, not just gambling

Hmmm, trades on KQ at 10.05 ... I hope @Obiero is sitting down. Anyway, folks know my stance on KQ as an investment. When's the AGM? Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
