All life on earth comes from the same "tree of life" - right? that means from genetic material you can draw a correlation between any 2 people, any 2 animals, any 2 species. For example you the reader of this text share 26% of your genes with Yeast! As far as we know (remember my other post - it would take 1 out of 10 power 150 chances to create RNA ....blah blah blah). But if it was done once - why can it not be done again? Right? Why then do we have ONE really prosperous tree of life and nothing else? hmmm.... so to answer this theory, we have to factor in some observation
1) Mars looks like it was once wet and thriving
2) All life on earth seem to have a common seeding point

Suppose we find Life on Mars, it could fall into 3 categories
1) we share a common DNA (in the same tree of life with us...where "us" is the "tree of life" over here)
2) it could be DNA but not from the same "tree of life"
3) it could be non-life DNA

All of these have interesting outcomes i.e. it could mean that
1) we may be a result of panspermia (in whatever form)
2) the same "miracle" of DNA formation that took place here happened in Mars and could happen elsewhere
3) DNA is just one possible life forming molecules.

So - as a followup to my post on aliens elsewhere - Let's assume that there is intelligent life that followed our exact pattern. So like us some 6 million years ago some female ape gave birth to two ape like creatures and one showed up to be humans and another chimps. When we compare the genetic difference between us and our closest relative - the chimps... it's really less than 1%.... you and a chimp share 99% of your genetic code! so let's look at the chimp - a creature we consider inteligent. He makes some tools i.e. putting twigs into a termite hole and fishing out some termites. The birghtest of chimps can only manage to do things that my 2 year old does - right. We on the other hand are looking at Mars.... sending pieces of metal using gravitational slingshots 88 million miles away. We are communicating different complex things using a series of writting codes. We have a species that gave people like Einstien, Our very brillint scientists like Steve Hawkings are doing really complex astrophysics in their brains. OK. 1% difference accounts for the shrieking creature that is the Chimp and us. So picture this - an alien creature that has 1% difference with us... ON THE UPPER SIDE! lol! that creature would look at us with all our really complex maths and all these things that we are throwing around thinking we are the bomb with laughter kinda like in the same way we would giggle in the sight of a chimp raising and declaring a saliva wet twig as the greatest invention in the universe. When we go to the National Park - drive around and see lions and buffalos and other creatures. do these creatures know they are in a park? What if earth or the visible universe is the park for us? We are mastering it kumbe the very dimensions (expanse of the universe) I have laid out are like the electric fence that separates Nairobi national park and Rongai? What if our best works are simply like toddler works for "them"? just an upgrade of 1%.... what about 2%? All this on the same parental genetic code? Could what our ancestors considered "Gods" be manifestations of these creatures described using cultural concepts... I am delving into @Muchr and @symbols field here... lol

Interesting. In the same trail of thought, would these "gods"not want to help us "evolve"? Am sure they could find a way to communicate if they wanted to....sort of the way grownups dumb it down when talking to toddlers as a way to help them catch up. Have human beings ever tried to help lower forms of life such as apes attain a higher intelligence? Is it even possible? This would probably answer the need of higher life forms trying to communicate with mankind.

Also since apes no longer seem to evolve is there a possibility that human beings will as well reach a critical point and have no more room to evolve? Would that then lead to "mutation" to create a superhuman, a change in DNA?

I like the way you think @Masukuma. Very interesting indeed. Kratos, evolution takes millions of years and frankly speaking it is not in any one species interests to help another evolve. Even if they wanted to they would not have the capacity to do so because individuals in the species cannot have a million year plan.

You say that they would find a way to communicate if they wanted to and I find this very interesting. If you wanted to communicate say to an insect, how would you do it and how would it know what you are trying to say? Maybe they have been communicating all these years but we just don't understand. What if the arrangement of the clouds every day, or lightning or rain or winds or floods are them trying to say something and we just can't read it and don't get it? What if everything you feel say a headache, itching, the need to yawn etc was a message of someone trying to tell you something?
