TAZ wrote:@Winston.....In my opinion i think Mata is better than those three players, I don't think Mourinho has ever given a satisfactory answer on why he doesn't play him.
I agree with you on the issue of the Jan transfer window being a distraction that's why i think Arsenal should sign one (striker) or two players. Having been player of the year twice, Mata is probably better than some of the trio. But in terms of all round game and physicality that Mourinho expects, Mata falls behind the trio. I wouldnt be surprised if shurrle gets the nod ahead of him. Remember Mourihno has also changed the playing systems in which Mata used to thrive in under RDM and Benitez. I too would really like Mata to play...for his control, exquisite feet, vision and ability to make that defence splitting pass. But for now we I suspect even Shurrle we get a spot ahead of him.

@Taz...I agree...Mancity and Chelsea have lost against small teams and will definately lose again as the relegation battle goes a notch higher and managers are replaced.
But my point is on those 5 consecutive games...arsenal will be stretched as they will be required to play at their very best...for 5 games in a row. The other contenders dont have a similar run that demands top level performance for 5 games in a row. Hence they will be slightly 'fresher'.
But again its early days...a game at a time.

New years - Man-u vs Spurs. Easy game for Man-u? They have been picking up victories of late and are knocking on the front 5.

@Kaka2za.....I think you should read this article to understand why Arteta has been so important for Arsenal so far. http://eplindex.com/4532...ero-stats-analysis.html
As for potential Jan signings, i think Wenger already knows who he wants to sign.

@Impunity.....my point is that we can only speculate, so many players have been linked to Arsenal but the fact that we've done some scouting means we are definitely in the market for a top striker. I believe all the clubs with an intention to sign during this transfer window have already been in contact with their targets. The window is short so there's really no time for lengthy negotiations. Btw unconfirmed reports indicate we are now believed to be the frontrunners to bring Real Madrid's Morata to the Premier League on loan....it seems he's our top target. I think the kid has talent. Porto's Jackson Martinez is also another target. http://www.dailymail.co....ary-boost-title-run.html

Arteta is the new Prince of sideway passes. He inherited the mantle from King Denilson! Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

If that's the case then he won't be joining any English club because third party ownership is banned in the EPL.....since the Tevez/Macsherano saga! Btw are you sure he has 3rd party ownership "Martinez, signed until 2018, has a release clause of €40 million, but the fact that he isn’t tied to a third-party owner like most South Americans on the Porto payroll......."

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

He might not be a World class striker at the moment but i think he's still a very good forward. He's a player who has EPL experience and unlike other targets he'll not be cup-tied in the CL. I think we are all aware of his qualities on the pitch, he's sometimes accused of slowing down the pace of the game but his ball control and touch reminds me of Bergkamp. It's being reported that his price is only £2million which makes him almost a free transfer. He would be a good back-up for Giroud especially if we also manage to get someone like Morata on loan.

@Impunity....So many players have been linked to Arsenal but I think we should go after Christian Benteke, he's lost his way a bit at A. Villa but i think Wenger can help him rediscover his mojo. At his best the guy is an animal infront of goal and i like the way he bulldozes his way through defences.....that's the kind of play we need! He needs to regain his form to earn a World Cup place with Belgium and i think Arsenal is just the club to help him achieve that.

Berbatov is lazy. Can't touch any manutd reject, remember Silvestre? Arsenal new 'signings' will be Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo. Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

Arsenal new 'signings' will be Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo. Berba> Giroud. One more thing you WON'T win epl title with the current crop of strikers. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

@Kaka2za.......Arsenal will sign another striker in Jan and that's a fact, all we can do is wait and see who ends up at the club. Btw @Mastermind, Giroud has actually performed better than your strikers all he needs is a reliable back up not a replacement.
