Top of the league going into the new year, where are the critics who thought otherwise. Half way through the season we've been the best.....

Arsenal top of the injury list too. Only one defender on the bench today. Gibbs done his hamstring and Sagna and Giroud ve played too many matches and at risk of muscle injuries.
Wenger must reinforce ASAP otherwise the team will run out of gas. The sight of Miyaichi on the bench was particularly disturbing!

Malky Makaay is on the firing line(most probably to be replaced by Sven Goran Eriksson) . Liverpool is gonna cause many managers headache. The last time I enjoyed premier league like this was back in 2009.

I can't understand how a team can be top of the table then 5th after one week. I am seriously having a headache trying to think...

Arsenal's 1-0 win against Newcastle is scrappy win, while Citeh's 1-0 win against Crystal and Manure 1-0 against Norwich is seen as a proper win.

Arsenal must make great signings in the Jan window. Otherwise Araenal will have to drop out of Champions League to chase the EPL title. Currently, there's no way we can chase both titles, not with the way we're playing.

BBI will solve it

TV5 and Monreal should be back in the next match, while (according to Wenger) Ozil will be out for about a week. Sagna just came back from a short lay off recently so i don't think he has any signs of fatigue as compared to Giroud.....in any case Jenkinson is still available. Ox-Chamberlain is also expected to return in the next one week or so. I think Miyaichi's presence on the bench was insignificant since we still had Poldi, Arteta & Gnabry. Its quite obvious that we need another Striker and I'm almost certain we'll get one in January....that's the only position we need to give priority to in the transfer window. If we are able to sign another Centre back and a defensive midfielder it would be good for depth but si lazima.

At the moment we have a stable squad, In some positions such as Midfield and at the front you'll need to rotate players but at the back you need stability....Koscielny and Mertesacker have flourished in this stability. Btw i still can't understand why Mata is not in Chelsea's starting 11, he rarely even comes on as a sub. That's not good for a player who wants to be in Brazil next year especially with the kind of midfield Spain have. My bet is that he might push for a move (probably on loan) in Jan. He's just the kind of player Man Utd need but i don't think Mourinho would let him move to OT.

@Taz - Hazard, Willian and Oscar are keeping Mata on the bench. I think he will only get game time if one of the trio is unfit/needs resting. No chance of him being sold or loaned out. He would definately elevate any of chelsea's opponents. Jose wouldnt allow that. I expect to see Williin rested in some of the coming games for Mata to play. Though Willian's workrate has been very impressive.

By the way...the January transfer window can be a boon or a distraction to the team. New players may or may not disturb team dynamics...so getting the player is one thing, bedding them in is another.

For Arsenal to win the title, they need to create some distance at the top from their immediate rivals in the month of January and February. Failing which their rivals must suffer a series of set backs for Arsenal to win the league. My reasoning is based on he month of March 2014 which will be a horrendous month for Arsenal.

Starting 11th March to 5th April 2014 ...Arsenal play the following teams: Bayern (Champions league), Spurs, Chelsea, Mancity, Everton. Thats two london derbies in succession and 3 of the top five teams in the league. And that will be after a probably tough game against Bayern (best team in the world currently(?)). Those 12 points will be tough to collect.

None of the other top five teams in the EPL has a run of fixtures as bad as arsenal's between now and end of the league.

The Current squad has done well but has been run to the ground.Flamini is injury prone and Arteta is not athletic enough as exemplified by the increasing number of fouls he is conceding.Arsenal desperately need a mobile DM(a younger version of Flamini).
Am very skeptical on signing of any quality strikers in January, probably the belgian Bitsh-whatever-his-name-is.
Arsenal will almost definitely finish in top four but the present squad is not sufficient to win the title.

@Winston.....In my opinion i think Mata is better than those three players, I don't think Mourinho has ever given a satisfactory answer on why he doesn't play him.

I agree with you on the issue of the Jan transfer window being a distraction that's why i think Arsenal should sign one (striker) or two players.

Everyone is focused on our fixtures in March but i think the important games will be against the so called "small teams"......how many points have Chelsea and Man City dropped against those teams. Btw in Nov we had a similar run of fixtures yet we still managed to maintain our position. Anyway we are not the underdogs here Spurs, Man City & Chelsea will have to be at their best to beat Arsenal. As @Smano said alot can happen between now and Feb/March in terms of injuries and new signings.....lets focus on the games we have now.
