Now that Fast Jet has folded, will KQ be profitable?
*Please fill up at KK. As a private firm that makes profits, we need your help. KQ & friends to pay cash*
KQ has never had real competition in Kenya.. Even the losses have always been manufactured
No competition yet airlines do do badly.
Ideally the Concorde should have raked in Billions in profits yet it folded shamefully after swallowing Billions in French and British taxpayers' money.
The Concorde was an aircraft [like 787] so not comparable. I think the only operators were BA and Air France as their governments funded the program. The Tupolev also died and not sure if anyone but Aeroflot operated them.
Thanks for schooling these young guns @vvs
Lakini @Obiero - one of my best decisions was taking the loss on KQ. That money was deployed to KK and KenRe. The moment I realized the management of KQ were crooks and board was nothing but incompetent... I tried to warn folks.
That's why when someone "accuses" a management/board of incompetence/thievery, I take notice. Where there is smoke, there is a chance of a fire. Of course, it may just be hot air but it is MY money at risk.
IMHO, 70% of firms on the NSE are "non-investable" ... [KQ, Olympia, Mumias, Kurwitu, Marshalls, etc]
Of the remainder, some are over-priced [but good firms eg EABL & BAT] while others are for those who can sit and wait eg Unga and KenRe. Some eg FTGH are still too new. Some eg ARM need time before we can assess where they are headed.
Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
