The demand is there and if KQ fix pricing they can even fly to these cities offerring passengers a seamless connection. Onward connection from Mumbai is very hectic as the later is a very busy airport.

Wasn't KQ flying direct to Delhi?
Why code-share with Jet to Delhi?

A quick check online shows ET and EK also fly to all 3 "new" cities so why fly KQ/Jet unless it is direct, cheaper, has easier connections or quality?

Since Etihad owns 29% of Jet, what's Eihad's motivation?
Is KQ in play for Etihad as a takeover candidate? [Though that negative equity is scary]

Delhi & Hyderabad via Mumbai for KQ is same as ET and EK. All with a stop over and cheaper. KQ can therefore do the pricing competitively in response to Ethiopian and all the Middle East carriers and in that way net/ attract passengers who could otherwise have left a direct KQ product and go for a stop over.

It is a well calculated move which was long overdue. I hope this idea emanated from the new commercial director. The same applies to Americas via Amsterdam, the renegotiation of the joint venture with KLM, I think should allow KQ to codeshare with United/ American from AMS to all the major American cities. This will make KQ's tickets to America more affordable rather than the current arrangement where KQ is confined to KLM only.

New KQ chairman MJ is serious in the turnaround. Less than a month and the guy is making profound changes.

But we have been yapping in this thread that the issue is the management lakini peeps never listen...if it wasn't for UK...Mbuvi should have also been sent home...They shouldn't have let Yves go to TAAG....promote him to CEO then sack Musila...Diaz and a few other fellows.

Mbuvi is the only stumbling stone to KQ's prosperity.

I hope a Donald Trump is elected next year.

Mbuvi is the only panacea to KQs struggles

Doesn't Delta [SkyTeam] make more sense for KQ? Why doesn't KQ codeshare with Delta for all of Delta's Paris-US flights? Or even Delta's AMS-USA? Or Delta's LHR-USA?

Did they not research that segment/sector before starting flights?

A Kenya Airways plane with 38 passengers on board from Delhi, India, had to make an emergency landing at Moi International Airport in Mombasa on Monday.

The plane was set to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport but had to be diverted to Mombasa.

The initial explanation given was that the aircraft had run out of fuel.

This are the routes TN had to push for when the new planes came...but passenger numbers were extremely low.

I also believe it was an issue with pricing, service levels, equipment and timing.

Pricing is an issue with KQ. ET fly this route twice on some days. When KQ terminated then KLM took over the slot. It is only the underlying issues which are affecting KQ's route performance.

This is where the agreement with KLM comes into focus.I believe it is restricting KQ in Europe and the whole of North America.

I can recall the codeshare that KQ has with Delta covers west Africa.

Here is the link.
