Cytonn launches Sh30bn housing fund.

So far ...

Cytonn Asset Managers Ltd principal officer Victor Odendo said it had raised about Sh13 billion locally in the past year via their Cytonn high yield (10.4 billion), unit trusts (Sh700 million) and a further Sh2 billion via the Cytonn Money Market Fund.

Is this a public investment regulated by CMA? If so, does anyone have a link to the prospectus? Can't find any on CMA website.

Sh. 30 billion to build 6000 units

30,000,000,000 / 6,000 =30,000,000 / 6 = 5,000,000

Assuming everything this Government says is true:

10% downpayment and 7% fixed interest rate for 25 years.

Payments on Ksh. 5,000,0000 will be Ksh.31,805.06 every month for 25 years.

Assuming a realistic interest rate of 15%, Those monthly payments jump to Ksh. 57,637.38

And that there explains the current <20,000 mortgages in this country

Cytonn named most innovative property developer

Quote:

Cytonn Real Estate has been recognised by the International Finance Magazine as the most innovative community developer (mixed use) in Kenya during the International Finance Awards that took place on November 18.

The category is won by companies that demonstrate excellence in the residential and commercial property space in emerging markets.
.
.
Besides The Alma, Cytonn has other real estate projects including Amara Ridge in Karen, The Ridge, RiverRun, Taraji Heights, Applewood and NewTown. The company says it is running property developments worth a total of Sh82 billion.

This is all just PR fluff. That is a meaningless award in a very narrow, niche category (probably the only entrant from Kenya). Meanwhile, no CMA data on this supposed REIT so either not regulated or only for private placement with "sophisticated investors"

The article doesn't show it is a ponzi scheme!

Yes, I didn’t say it said that :). My opinion and yours is also valid :)
The article brings up flags and it’s up to the individual to make up their own mind on whether to trust the firm. Have a good week!

So CMA will watch investors getting burned at NSE, but will be used by a bank that's jittery about competition to strangle the new kid on the block who is attracting more new clients?

And how are there only 5 banks in Kenya that can be trustees?

Our market needs to evolve.

Why are the other banks declining trusteeship? I wonder Liar
Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

Coop: "Channel your funds to our bank deposits or we'll stop being your trustees"

Stanbic Bank: Not sure

The other 3: Likely saying "Less competition in the money markets, better business for us"
