Of course i dont care, but account beneficiaries True that this is a very stupid move. Why use public funds to purchase buses and compete with the private sector, wananchi who are servicing loans for their matatus. And all the daily collections money will end up in individual's pockets in the infamous NYS theft style. Then close a whole lane on Thika road for use by the buses and create maddening traffic jams? Also, was tendering done or the PS just traveled to SA with an inflated LPO? This jumbiree should just go home. We are tired. Punda amechoka.

The idea behind BRT is such that the mat/buses use that one lane without mingling with the other personal cars, but how is having additional buses helping the situation on a road that is already congested by buses? Wouldn't that money have been more useful if it was used to expand the road? How do you as govt hope to expand the manufacturing sector if you cant even assemble a bus? This move is very stupid indeed. "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .

BRT is a necessity in a city of 5m. Those chaotic matatus should just go. They make Nairobi look like a slum city. The matatus killed KBS which was the best BRT system.

True, matatus are the "face" of corruption to the ordinary mwananchi, i dont mind a garment transport system, the matatu idiots even refused to adopt simple payment technology like those developed by Equity bank, Safaricom, and garment, so they can continue bribing police, stealing from owners and generally turning Nairobi into hell, once he introduces digital systems, matatus will be finished.Wakwende forever!!! The idea of replacing privately owned matatus with government owned mass transport is noble, but this is Kenya. Some thief will eat everything budgeted for the project. Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

Bigups Uhuru The problems with Kenya started when government abdicated its responsibility to provide well-planned affordable housing and an efficient and affordable public transport system. Think of estates like Madaraka, Jericho, K-south, Huruma flats,Otiende, Langa'ta woodley, buxton Mombasa, Makande etc complete with public primary schools that were served by efficient transport system KBS.While Uhuru's intentions might be well meaning, he should walk the talk on his 500000 houses pledge which have proper bus terminus. He should stop his kizungu mingi at forums like KEPSA and break ground on this housing project ASAP. P.S. I'm thinking of the chaos at Githurai overpass while writing this. Matatus/buses, hawkers, pickpockets, police, boda boda, nys buses and to top it all unplanned buildings allover Dumb money becomes dumb only when it listens to smart money

Govt is too bureaucratic to run the BRT system but they shouldn't partner with matatus either. The KBS model was quite ok. An established public transport company owning 70% and City Council owning 30%. City council provided housing for the KBS staff and huge garage at Eastleigh. It's a shame that Bogota came, copied and perfected the BRT system after studying the Nairobi model of the 60s 70s while Nairobi let unruly matatus take over.
I notice the Thika road is a pilot phase. Let's support it and hope it works well. NYS has enough land for parking facilities garage facilities, trained personnel if only Uhuru could stop the tenderpreneur thugs pilfering it to the bones.
Matatus should only be visible 30km from CBD and their role should be to transport passengers to the rail stations or the BRT termini

Expect crazy traffic kesho if county govt follows up on its directive. No mats allowed in town. Jogoo road mats to terminate at Muthurwa, Thika rd, Kiambu rd, limuru rd & Waiyaki way mats to pick n drop passengers at Fig tree Ngara. Ngong road mats at Railways. Since the commuter living along Ngong road and working along Thika Rd will find it hard to walk from railways to Fig tree, expect more weekend drivers on the roads! Also, I hear parking fee is down to 200 bob
