Pessimists are always welcome in life (although they rarely leave a mark in it) but Bolt's track record speaks for itself. Since teenage years he has been setting the pace. Let us enjoy the times while they last. Guys in SK and elsewhere who have cared to check his history cant help but be optimistic that this is the real deal. He is still not straining, still does not run the perfect race, still harbors a youngin's swagger and still breaks records. The flaws are there for all to see. Pause and think...

Meanwhile,he is bagging thousands of dollars as pessimists watch. He has already trademarked his signature pause when he wins. An entrepreneurial spirit to boot as pips still wonder whether the weed he smokes might be of alien origin?????

retirement at 40.

The speed of a human being is determined by the wavelength (the size of the stride),the frequecy (number of times stride is made in a second) and endurance (how long performance can be sustained)

That said,BOLT's longer legs gives him wider stride than the other competitors - measured between toe-to-toe of the two legs alternately.

The Frequency depends on the athletes physical strength and training. This is achieved via the gym and regular practice/routine. Almost of the 100M runners looked physically ok,evidenced by their muscular stature.

Endurance: This is determined by how first energy can be supplied into the muscles to sustain the propelling motion. The blood circulatory system, the oxygen cycle (breathing system) and the rate at which the acids generated in the joints is removed determines the endurance. This aspect is obtained through practice. The brain can however be 'cheated' through use of inhibitors that block the 'tired' signals from being sensed by the brains ( just as panadol block pain signals from the brain).

Endurace may not be as critical for the short/dash races as for the longer races, but the Wavelength and frequency is critical.

BOLT has a higher wavelength, almost same frequecy as the rest and his practice of many years could have given him endurance. Thus his long stride and physical strength is key to his victory.

Taller stronger humans will be required to bring the record to sub 8-Seconds. Computations based on current tall humans in Russia and some parts of Africa, based on physical builts of former Slaves in the America's predicts a max human speed of 7 seconds. This combination would be rare unless there is a cross bread of Blacks race and some selected Russian humans.

Tyson Gay is out of the 200M race with a groin injury! Yeah right! Give me a break! I predicted this in my earlier post (before the 100M final). This guy just imagined the pain of loosing so spectacularly on sunday, multiplied that by two and then said enough is enough! Groin injury my foot! What is he going to do? Switch to 800 metres and hope Bolt does not occasionally participate in it for fun? Bure Kabisa!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Finally the groin strain is too much? He's had it most of the athletic season...I am so loving the way American sprinters have eaten humble pie mpaka wakashiba, even in the womens sprint,it's almost always a sweep with an American sometimes spoiling the mix. Those guys have too much swagger. I hope Bolt sticks to 100M and 200M and does not attempt the 400M,I think that might just disrupt his flow, otherwise for now I think we're about to witness an athlete dominate the sprint for a few years, short of injury or accident. Never thought it possible to have a Bekele or Mutola of sprint.

I have heard several guys say that Usain Bolt reduced his speed 'as usual' towards the finish of 100m. I however disagree. Do you think otherwise? If so,could he have made it at 9.00 to humilate Gay further. Just an assumption!

lets meet at the hague

@Ocampo

Two things:

1. either you had been 'blacklisted' for a week like the others using safari, opera mini et al such that you didnt see the thread that had over 60 replies on this

or (which is most probable)

2. You are a journalist looking for some juicy write-up from the responses.

If neither of the above, just search for a thread 'Bolt vs Gay' or something like that you will see all the responses and humour that goes with it in SK. Good luck

Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

C'mon chap, why run 9.5 flat when guys are a stride away, rather slow it but break the record from pole position and milk the remaining time gap for commerical value it presents. Its a no brainer ask Sergei bubka and yelena isibayeva
