@lonest, your "God of Christians" (God forbids) Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) was circumcised on the 8th day (Luke 2:21).
The same "God of Christians" (God forbids), Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) stated very, very clearly in Matthew 5:17-20 that: "
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."
So has heaven and the earth disappeared? Of course, not! So why have the Christians disobeyed the law of God? You're following the Christian slayer Saul aka Paul.
On Mtt 5, we have discussed before. Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of the law and the prophets. We no longer do things like sacrifice to appease God or to show thanksgiving.
He takes you away from just bragging about how you keep the law and actually enhances it. You say you have never commited adultery? Have you looked at a woman lustfully? Then you have committed adultery! Similarly you are a murderer not because you killed but even if you are angry with your brother you are guilty of murder!
Here comes Jesus, making the law even seem harder. If you are guilty of adultery, you are liable to death by stoning, right?
But, in referring to the mode of worship where the temple was revered and was the appointed place of worship, he tells the Samaritan woman:
‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. . . . But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.’
Then about food, clean and unclean he points out:(Mark 7)
“Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.”
What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
Do you see an interest in the heart of man? Not outward deeds only but the heart of man. Because the heart of the problem is always a problem of the heart! The Law could not legislate against issues in a man's heart. And God is always interested in the heart. Not outward appearances and deeds
About the Sabbath: The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” (Matt 12:8)
Christians should not be burdened with what Jesus already fulfilled. Whoever wants to keep the law should keep the whole of it; even sacrificing animals to God!
